Deuxième album studio d’Emmanuel Santarromana, "Fab 4 Ever" – en hommage aux célèbres Fab Four de Liverpool – est plus qu’un album de reprises : une relecture personnelle de douze chansons des Beatles, qui ne sacrifie ni à la facilité ni à l’air du temps. A l’instar de « Metropolitain », qui voyait Emmanuel inviter différents collaborateurs, instrumentistes et vocalistes de tous horizons, « Fab 4 Ever » déploie une riche palette stylistique autant qu’il révèle de singuliers interprètes.
A commencer par Emmanuel, qui sur cet album, en plus de « We Can Work It Out » — réenregistré pour l’occasion — s’attaque à rien moins que « Strawberry Fields Forever », « Back In The USSR » et « You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away », avec ce timbre émouvant qui évoque pour certains le souvenir de Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon ou encore Jaz Coleman de Killing Joke.
Cold-wave martiale ou mélodies de sable, frénésie gnawa et robot-pop, fierté folk irlandaise et extases sudistes, « Fab 4 Ever » fait souvent oublier que les classiques de Paul, John, George et Ringo ont été écrits dans les années 60.
« Ce disque conçu, comme le précédent avec Sébastien Fauvel m’a donné l’occasion de collaborer avec de nouveaux musiciens : Zaff, bassiste qui a longtemps travaillé avec Souad Massi, Yan Péchin guitariste du groupe actuel de Bashung, Antoine Fournier, batteur des Newtonians, ou encore Cyril Hernandez, percussionniste d’Emilie Simon ».
Parmi les vocalistes invités : Déah (Paperback Writer), chanteuse des Lovegods, Marie Payen (Blackbird, Day Tripper), comédienne et auteure-compositrice, Zita Lotis-Faure (Come Together), ex-chanteuse des Flaming Pussy, actuellement chanteuse des Godsknowswhat. Newton (Tomorrow Never Knows) auteur-compositeur et chanteur des Newtonians, Constance Verluca (Across the Universe) et Blanca Li (Sun King) chorégraphe de la compagnie du même nom, et chorégraphe, entre autres, du clip des Daft Punk, Around the World.

Emmanuel Santarromana’s second album, « Fab4ever », is more than a cover album : it’s a personal interpretation of twelve sounds of the famous Beatles. Like in “Metropolitain”, many collaborators, instrument players and vocalists, from different musical universes, did participate, thus deploying a rich stylistic pallet, as well as singular talents.
Emmanuel is the first of them : in this album, he performed “We Can Work It out”, “Strawberry Fields Forever”, “Back In The USSR” and “You’ve Got To Hide Your Love Away”, with this touching tone that reminds Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Paul Simon or also Jaz Coleman from the Killing Joke.
« This album, designed like the previous one with Sebastien Fauvel, gave me the opportunity to work in collaboration with many new musicians : Zaff, bassist who worked for a long time with Souad Massi, Yan Péchin, Alain Bashung’s guitar player, Antoine Fourrier, the Newtonians’ drummer and also Cyril Hernandez, Emilie Simon’s percussionist. Among vocal players who performed in this album : Déah (Paperback Writter), the Lovegods singer, Marie Payen (Blackbird, Day Tripper), actress and song writer, Zita Lotis-Faure (Come Together), former Flaming Pussy’s song player and now singing for the Godsknowswhat.
