Avec Métropolitain, Emmanuel Santarromana nous propose un parcours impressionniste dans le Paris cosmopolite avec pour fil conducteur le métro parisien. L’artiste se livre à un exercice de style où chaque station (Père Lachaise, Opéra, les Halles, Saint Germain des Près, etc) est prétexte à l’exploration des différentes facettes de la culture musicale parisienne. D’un hip hop énergique, à une pop mélo, en passant par des sonorités tziganes, africaines et jazz, les atmosphères et les cultures se succèdent au fil des stations sans jamais se ressembler.
Métropolitain est un album riche ; surprenant mélange de sonorités et d’émotions. Il ne s’agit pas d’un album de musique électronique au sens strict du terme car l’artiste a souhaité que chaque titre possède une identité acoustique très forte.Plus d’une vingtaine de musiciens ont ainsi participé à son enregistrement. A noter, les participations du rappeur Mike Ladd, des African Divas, et plus inattendue, de la célèbre designer Andrée Putman sur un poème de Boris Vian.
